• UN chief urged to intervene on Kashmir to avert catastrophe
• Modi disallows seminar on ‘Media Blackout in Kashmir’

Srinagar, March 16 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has called upon the UN Secretary General António Guterres to urgently intervene for settlement of the Kashmir dispute to avert a nuclear catastrophe in the South Asia region.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar warned that continued ignorance coupled with massive human rights violations by Indian occupation forces has increased the risk of a devastating war in the region, surrounded by three nuclear powers – Pakistan, India and China. And this war, if triggered, would have every potential to turn into a global war. Since the UN recognizes Kashmir as a dispute, he said, the responsibility to settle it in accordance with its resolutions, therefore, lies exclusively with the World Body itself. The spokesman deplored that Jammu and Kashmir could not draw the world attention because it did not have oil reserves.

A protest march was taken out in Rajouri town against anti-people policies of the Modi regime in the occupied territory. The march was led by Congress IIOJK chapter President, Vikar Rasool Wani, and working president Raman Bhalla.

Meanwhile, a constable of Indian police committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Hiller area of Islamabad district. This incident raised the number of such deaths among Indian troops and police personnel to 563 in IIOJK since January 2007.

A 28-year-old man, Suhail Rehman Beig, who went missing a few days ago was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Nowgam area of Srinagar, today. As per his family, Suhail was abducted by some people in plainclothes after he dropped his father near Habba Kadal in Srinagar on Monday, and his body with torture marks was recovered in the city, today.

On the other hand, Modi government disallowed a seminar on Media Blackout And State Repression in Kashmir”, which was scheduled to be held in New Delhi, the other day. The Delhi police in an order made a lame excuse that the event was being organised by an “anonymous group” and participants were “unknown” while the poster announcing the seminar has a long list of fairly well-known organisers as well as speakers including former IIOJK high court judge Hussain Masoodi, renowned documentary filmmaker Sanjay Kak and public commentator Anil Chamadia.

After Rahul Gandhi, Congress Rajasthan president, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, has also pointed finger at the Modi regime for orchestrating Pulwama attack to win elections. Addressing an event in the Indian state, Ranchawa asked whether Modi planned the attack to contest the election. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had also blamed the Modi government for the attack. KMS
