Amit Shah visit aimed at Covering up Grave situation in IIOJK

Srinagar, June 21(KMS): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has called upon US President Joe Biden to raise the issue of blatant human rights violations by Indian forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir during his meeting with Indian prime minister Narendra Modi.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar reminded Washington of its deep commitment to protecting the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and hoped that President Biden would urge the Indian prime minister to take immediate confidence building measures for settlement of the Kashmir dispute. He said the lingering dispute has already consumed Kashmiris’ three generations. The APHC spokesman warned that any lackadaisical approach by the world major powers like the United States towards the sufferings of Kashmiri people at the hands of India could trigger a nuclear war in the South Asian region, which would have all the potential to engulf the entire global peace.

It is worth mentioning here that two US lawmakers, Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar, have already announced to boycott Modi’s address to the US Congress citing his government’s repressive policies against minorities, patronizing of violent Hindu nationalist groups and targeting of journalists and human rights defenders in India. Modi, who is on US official visit, is scheduled to address a joint session of the US Congress, tomorrow.

Meanwhile, protest demonstrations were held in occupied Jammu and Kashmir against the anti-people policies of the authorities. People took to the streets at several places in Srinagar against the Modi regime’s novel tactics of fleecing the poor Kashmiri people. Protesters from Rajouri Kadal, Wazapora, and Tengpora blocked roads in protest against installation of so-called smart meters. Kashmiri Pandits staged a massive protest in the Jagti township of Jammu against the absence of basic amenities including electricity.

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, headed by Farooq Abdullah, has initiated a campaign to expose five-year misrule in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir by Narendra Modi-led Indian government. The campaign commenced with a convention in Lakhanpur town in Kathua district of Jammu region.
