China and Turkiye likely to stay Out of G20 meeting in IIOJK: Indian media

Indian forces continue massive crackdown in IIOJK, arrest over 1000

· Participation in Srinagar meeting by G20 countries tantamount to support India’s crimes

Srinagar, May 18 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian Army, police and paramilitary personnel continue massive crackdown across the occupied territory ahead of the proposed G20 meeting in Srinagar, next week.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Narendra Modi-led India government in an attempt to mislead the world about the prevailing grim human rights situation and legitimize its unilateral illegal actions of 05 August 2019 in the territory is holding the G20 meeting from May 22-24 in Srinagar. Ahead of this event, the Modi regime has turned IIOJK into a fortress by deploying Indian troops in strength in every nook and corner to project its false narrative of normalcy. Indian Army, police and paramilitary personnel are carrying out house raids and cordon and search operations in every city and town. The police also searched the house of illegally detained senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, during a raid in Srinagar, yesterday, terrorized his family members and vandalized the household goods. The police booked two persons, Bashir Ahmad Mir and Syed Khaki Shah, under black law, Public Safety Act, in Baramulla district for their affiliation with the freedom movement and shifted them to Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu.

Meanwhile, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference in a statement in Srinagar once again urged the people of occupied Kashmir to observe complete shutdown on May 22 to register their protest against the Modi regime’s nefarious move. APHC Vice Chairman, Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar, in a statement in Srinagar said the participation in a meeting by the G20 member countries in the UN-designated disputed territory will be tantamount to supporting India’s crimes and justify its deceitful occupation and illegal actions in the territory. He said the Kashmiri people hope that these countries will boycott the event and foil India’s ulterior motives behind the move.

Indian daily Hindustan Times has reported that China and Türkiye are among the G20 member countries that are likely to skip the proposed meeting in Srinagar next week. Several other countries will have low-level participation in the event and are likely to be represented by diplomats from their embassies in New Delhi instead of officials from their respective capitals. Pertinently, the holding of an international event in a disputed territory is a violation of the UN Charter.

An Indian paramilitary constable committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Awantipora area of Pulwama district. This incident raised the number of such deaths among Indian troops and police personnel to 568 since January 2007 till date.

On the other hand, a massive protest demonstration was held in Mirpur University of Science and Technology, today, against the worst war crimes being perpetrated by Indian troops in IIOJK and the proposed G20 meeting by the Modi regime in Srinagar. Hundreds of students, professors, lecturers and citizens participated in the demonstration organized under the auspices of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir. They chanted high-pitched anti-India slogans on the occasion.
