• NIA continued raids in Kashmir valley, Jammu
Srinagar, May 17 (KMS): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has reiterated its call for a complete shutdown in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on May 22 against the hosting of G-20 meeting in Srinagar by the Narendra Modi-led Indian government.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC through posters, pasted on walls and poles in the streets of Srinagar and adjoining areas, appealed to the people to observe the strike to convey a loud and clear message to India and the G-20 countries that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized-disputed territory, and the holding of the global forum’s meeting will be blatant violation of the UN resolutions on Kashmir. Call for the strike has also been supported by the AJK political leadership, while the Kashmiri diaspora will hold anti-India protest rallies and demonstrations in world capitals to denounce the Indian move, what the UN Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues, Fernand de Varennes, has described as an attempt to normalize a military occupation over Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, as part of the ongoing crackdown operations ahead of G20 meeting on May 22-24, India’s dreaded National Investigation Agency and State Investigation Agency along with paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force personnel raided several houses in different areas of Srinagar, Badgam, Baramulla, Pulwama, Shopian and Islamabad districts in the Kashmir valley and Kishtwar district in Jammu region.
Denouncing the raids, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, speaking to reporters in Srinagar, today, said that Modi govt was trying to present a picture of normalcy in the Kashmir valley to the international community by holding the G20 meeting in the territory. She said, in a scenario where people are harassed, agencies like NIA, SIA and SIU are carrying out daily raids, schools have been shut for 10 days while shopkeepers have been told to keep their shops open, New Delhi wants to present Kashmir as a trophy in the G20 by painting a picture of normalcy.

The Sikhs For Justice, spearheading the movement for a separate homeland for Sikhs in the name of Khalistan, urged the Kashmiris to block Srinagar airport in a bid to apprise the the delegates about the sensitivity of attending the G20 event in the occupied territory.
