Major earthquake jolts IIOJK

Pakistan center of hope for Kashmiri people
Pakistani flags hoisted for 5th day in IIOJK

Srinagar, March 22 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference leaders and organizations have said that Pakistan is center of hope for not only the Kashmiri people but for the entire Muslim Ummah and all oppressed people around the world.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC leaders and organizations including Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Ghulam Nabi War, Devinder Singh Behl, Javaid Ahmad Mir and Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam in their messages on the eve of Pakistan Day said the Kashmiris’ love for the country is vindicated by the fact that they hoist Pakistani flags and celebrate 23 March in the volley of brutal firing by the Indian troops. Besides, they said, the Kashmiris shroud the dead bodies of their martyrs in Pakistani flag.

The leaders and organizations pointed out that the Kashmiris’ freedom struggle is the continuation of the Pakistan Movement and see the aggressive stance taken by Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Syed Asim Munir against India, the brutal usurper of Kashmiris’ birth right, during his first visit to the Line of Control in the context of the historic Pakistan Resolution of March 23, 1940.

Meanwhile, Pakistani flags continued to be hoisted for the fifth consecutive day in Srinagar, Islamabad and other parts of the territory, today, greeting Pakistani people and government on the Pakistan Day. Besides, posters with pictures of Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir also surfaced in the territory. The posters read that the strong statement of Pakistan Army Chief on Kashmir has not only boosted the morale of the Kashmiri people, but also refuted the recent propaganda peddled by a section of Indian media against Pakistan’s Kashmir policy. Posters and videos were also uploaded on social media platforms like twitter and facebook from across the occupied territory, felicitating the Pakistani brethren on their national day.

Kashmiri journalist Irfan Meraj’s arrest by India’s dreaded National Investigation Agency in a false case has evoked strong condemnation from local and international journalist bodies and media watchdogs, politicians and human rights organizations. Paris-based media watchdog, Reporters Without Borders, in a statement posted on its website called for the immediate release of Irfan Meraj, and said anti-terrorism laws should not be used to suppress journalists. The Editor’s Guild of India said, the space for media freedom has progressively eroded in Kashmir. The Press Club of India demanded the immediate release of Irfan Meraj. A Srinagar-based journalist, in an interview to a foreign media outlet, said that these arrests were meant to instill fear among the journalist community. He said that the arrest belies Modi regime’s claim of normalcy in IIOJK. Peoples Democratic Party chief, Mehbooba Mufti took to the Twitter to add that journalists like Irfan Meraj are arrested for speaking the truth
