1. Senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Shabbir Ahmed Shah, currently detained in New Delhi’s Tihar jail, has made an urgent appeal to the United Nations to intervene and resolve the Kashmir dispute according to its Security Council resolutions.
2. According to Kashmir Media Service, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, in a message from the jail, expressed concern over the BJP regime’s anti-Kashmiri agendas and urged the United Nations to prevent the BJP/RSS nexus from pursuing the Hindutva policies in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that resolving the Kashmir dispute is crucial for lasting peace in South Asia and globally, given the territory’s strategic location amidst three nuclear powers Pakistan, India, and China.
3. Other Hurriyat leaders and organizations in Srinagar condemned the transformation of Kashmir into a military zone and war garrison, citing frequent human rights violations by occupation troops. They stated that since August 2019, the BJP regime has implemented policies to disempower Kashmiris, exacerbating efforts to marginalize them in their own Muslim-majority territory.
4. In a show of unity, Kashmiri Muslims across communities came together to pay tribute to martyred Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. Congregational Fateha ceremonies were held, with the largest gathering in Bemina, where speakers including Dr. Sameer Siddiqui, Maulana Masroor Abbas Ansari, and Agha Ruhullah, praised Nasrallah’s ultimate sacrifice for the oppressed people.
5. Life in Ladakh came to a standstill in protest against renowned climate activist Sonam Wangchuk’s detention by Delhi Police. The Leh Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance called for the shutdown to support Wangchuk’s demands for Ladakh rights including protection of the local land, property and culture from outsiders. Sajjad Kargili, a social activist from Kargil, began a hunger strike against the suppression of Ladakh’s demands by the Modi regime.
