· APHC expresses concern over Kashmiri detainees’ plight
· Indian troops continue violent CASOs in IIOJK
Srinagar, December 30 (KMS): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has expressed serious concern over the miserable plight of illegally detained Kashmiris including Hurriyat leaders and activists languishing in different jails of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that India was victimizing the Kashmiri detainees for challenging its illegal occupation of their homeland. He said that many prisoners had developed serious ailments due to the denial of basic facilities including medical care and hygienic food in the jails. The spokesman appealed to the world human rights organizations including the UN Human Rights Council, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch to play their role in the release of the Kashmiri prisoners to save their lives.
Posters appeared in Srinagar and other areas of the occupied territory, appealing the United Nations to take steps to settle the Kashmir dispute as per its resolution passed on 5th January 1949. The posters urged the World Body to take notice of India’s denial of the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, recognized by the UN Security Council through its resolution passed on January 5, 1949.
Meanwhile, Indian troops continued their violent cordon and search operations in different areas of Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch and Shopian districts. The residents of these areas told the media that the troops asked the men to come out of their homes and made them stay in the open for hours in severe cold. They added that the troops also harassed the residents including women and children.
The occupation authorities once again disallowed senior APHC leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, to offer Juma prayers at Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, by keeping him under continued house detention. The Mirwaiz has been under continued house arrest since August 05, 2019.
A court in Srinagar has sentenced a Kashmiri youth to 15 years imprisonment for his affiliation with the freedom struggle. The court sentenced Amir Nabi Wagay on the recommendation of New Delhi-controlled State Investigation Agency in a case registered against him under draconian law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
People staged protest demonstrations in Jammu against the anti-people policies of the occupation authorities. The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum took out a candle march in Akhnoor to highlight its demands. All Jammu Based Reserved Category Employees continued their protest at Dr B.R. Ambedkar Chowk in Jammu. The employees are demanding among other things their transfer from the Kashmir Valley to the Jammu region. KMS
