Indian troops Martyr one Kashmiri youth in Kupwara district

1. In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred one Kashmiri youth in Kupwara district, today.

2. The troops martyred the youth during a military operation in Saidpora area of the district. The operation continued till reports last came in. Indian troops, police and paramilitary personnel launched a cordon and search operation at Qamarwari in Srinagar also after a government employee was injured in an attack by unidentified gunmen in the area.

3. The All Parties Hurriyat Conference spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said the shutdown observed by the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, yesterday, should serve as an eye-opener for the Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government that the Kashmiris will not allow it to change the demographic composition of the territory. He said the people of Jammu and Kashmir want settlement of the Kashmir dispute by granting of right to self-determination to them as per the UN resolutions for ensuring peace and prosperity in the region.

4. The President of IIOJK chapter of Indian National Congress, Vikar Rasool Wani, addressing a party meeting in Srinagar termed the eviction-cum-demolition drive as another assault on the territory by the Modi government. He demanded an immediate end to the anti-people move.

5. Representatives from Ladakh took their agitation to New Delhi by staging a protest there in support of their demands. Besides leaders from Ladakh’s two frontal organizations, the Kargil Democratic Alliance and Leh Apex Body, many students and common Ladakhis also joined the protest, which was held at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

Several international media organizations including Christian Science Monitor, South China Morning Post, Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting and The Guardian in a joint statement have called for the release of illegally detained noted Kashmiri journalist, Fahad Shah. They said, Fahad Shah is paying heavy price for elevating people’s voice in IIOJK. The statement was published by the US-based Christian Science Monitor. Fahad Shah has been under detention since his arrest on February 04, last year. He was arrested after he published the narrative of the families of some fake encounter victims which was in conflict with the authorities’ version. He is currently lodged at Kot Bhalwal jail of Jammu.

7. In India, the sleuths of Income Tax department continued their raids and searches at the BBC’s offices in Delhi and Mumbai on the 3rd consecutive day, today. The raids are part of the Modi government’s reprisals against the British broadcaster over its documentary which exposed the role of Narendra Modi in the anti-Muslim riots in Gujarat in 2002 when he was Chief Minister of the state
