Srinagar, June 09 (KMS): Indian forces\u2019 personnel and dreaded agencies have arrested over 2500 Kashmiris, including All Parties Hurriyat Conference leaders and several women, in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir so far this year to punish them for their affiliation with the freedom movement.<\/p>\n
According to the data released by Kashmir Media Service, today, Indian Army, paramilitary and police personnel as well as the sleuths of the dreaded National Investigation Agency and State Investigation Agency during cordon and search operations and house raids arrested over 2500 Kashmiris. Those arrested include APHC leaders, Bilal Siddiqi, Zamruda Habib, Yasmeen Raja, and journalist Irfan Meraaj. The Indian authorities slapped black laws like Public Safety Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act on many of the detainees and lodged them in different jails of IIOJK and India.<\/p>\n
Posters appeared in Srinagar city paying rich tributes to the victims of Chotta Bazaar massacre. Over 30 people, including women and children, were martyred due to the indiscriminate firing of the Indian Central Reserve Police Force personnel in Chotta Bazaar area of Srinagar on June 11, 1991. The posters pasted on the walls, poles and pillars by various Hurriyat organizations said the Kashmiris will accomplish the mission of their martyrs at all costs.<\/p>\n
Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema Jammu and Kashmir and the Muslim Personal Law Board Jammu and Kashmir at a joint meeting in Srinagar expressed concern over the summoning of prominent religious scholar, Maulana Rehmatullah Qasmi, by India\u2019s dreaded National Investigation Agency for questioning. The participants of the meeting presided over by Grand Mufti of occupied Kashmir, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, also condemned the continued house detention of the MMU founder patron Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and imprisonment of other religious leaders.<\/p>\n
The President of IIOJK chapter of Indian National Congress, Vikar Rasool Wani, presiding over a party workers\u2019 meeting in Banihal area of Ramban district of Jammu region, expressed surprise over the tall claims being made from time to time by the Modi government regarding development and empowerment of the people in Jammu and Kashmir. He said the reality is that the Modi regime has failed on every count.<\/p>\n
